CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Puppy Socialization:

This 6 week session gives puppies, age 12 to 17 weeks, a chance to meet new puppies and people and to discover their world. In a relaxed fashion, basic manners will be introduced such as the sit, down, stay and recall.

Fun with FIDO:

This 6 week session introduces handler & dog to new games & tricks that enhance the bonding between them. Beginner obedience is a prerequisite for this class. Dogs should look forward to 'Fun with FIDO' school!

Beginner:

This 6 week session teaches all the basic commands such as sit, down, stand, come when called, stay & walking on a loose leash. When this class is mastered, dogs should be ready to obtain a CGN (Canine Good Neighbour) certificate from the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club).

Pre-Novice:

This 6 week session perfects the basic commands as in Beginner and concentrates on heeling as required in the Pre-Novice title as offered by the CKC. No off leash heeling required.

Novice:

This 6 week session perfects the heeling from Pre-Novice & prepares the student for the Novice or Companion Dog title from the CKC. Off leash heeling will be introduced.

Trial Novice:

This 6 week session teaches the finer points of the Novice class................perfectly straight fronts and finishes and superb heeling. This class fine tunes both the handler and dog for the Novice ring.

Open:

This 6 week session works on the open exercises leading to a CDX or Companion Dog Excellent title. In this class heeling, retrieve on the flat, retrieve over the high jump, drop on recall, broad jump and stays are taught.

Utility:

This 6 week session works on the utility exercises leading to a Utility Dog title. Exercises such as the seek back, scent discrimination, signals, directed jumping and moving stand are taught. This class leads to an OTCH (Obedience Trial Champion) title.

Rally-O:

This 6 week session covers both Rally Novice and Rally Advanced. Dogs should have at least a solid Beginner foundation to participate in Rally-O. The sessions cover all the signs required in Rally Novice and Rally Advanced and offer some practice run-throughs. These classes lead to the RN (Rally Novice), RA (Rally Advanced) and RE (Rally Excellent) titles.

Private Lessons:

You can book a private lesson at BDOC for $40/hour.

NOTE: Canine titles are available through the CKC if your dog is CKC registered and through Bytown Dog Obedience Club if your dog does not have a CKC registration number
